Of the newest movies released, one stuck out the most. The name of it was “Split” and it features a man with severe Multiple Personality Disorder. When watching trailers and reading reviews, I found myself torn between if it was worth the $7.50 to go see it at my local movie theatre or not. Not have anything better to do, I wrangled up some loose change, stopped by the gas station to get some gummy worms and a Diet Coke. I headed for the Carmike 8.

The movie begins showing us a girl’s birthday party, a fairly innocent scene. It takes a sharp turn during the kidnapping of three teenage girls. This is where we meet our main character. Now, keep in mind, this is only part of the main character, not completely all of him.

After kidnapping the girls and bringing them to a abandoned building, he begins treating them as guests, friends, and prisoners! If there were any movie to be nearly impossible to recap in words, it would be this one. The movie also includes a doctor who the main character, Kevin, is being treated by. She is the only person who can fully comprehend the way he acts in all shapes and forms of his humanly body. Being rejected by the entire world due to their disbelief in the reality of the disease, they must keep quiet. As much as she tries to keep him in line, she is essentially trying to look after twenty-three people in one.

This is not a movie that one can attend while being distracted, it requires your full undivided attention. The second you turn away, you will miss something vital to the movie’s plot.
