At the NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 18, 2018, Fergie sang the national anthem. Fergie was very disrespectful to America, singing the anthem in the style of one of her crazy songs. People were highly confused and bashed her performance. Even the players had to contain their laughter, since she sounded so bad.

“I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem, and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” Fergie apologized. “I’m a risk-taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”

I think her version of the national anthem was way too bluesy and inappropriate. In fact, many disliked her performance, and I think her apology does not make up for how bad it was. Some people think she wasn’t being intentionally disrespectful, but she definitely was. Most people also think that her vocal coach should be fired for letting her do that in front of the entire country on national television, which is not acceptable. People are extremely surprised by Fergie’s decision and are still left wondering what she was thinking.

Fergie needs to realize that a simple apology is not going to fix things. She is very famous, and the performance definitely hurt her career. This is something the world is always going to remember, for it was so disappointing to the country. I hope Fergie figures out how to recover and get her career back on track.

I agree, the performance was bad, but I also believe that she did not mean to disrespect the country. Other than making a new song there is no other way than to say sorry so we, as a country, will have to forgive her and move on.

The NBA should have gotten a better singer for the national anthem. She was a very bad singer, and I agree that she disrespected our country.
