Christmas is around the corner, and you might be wanting to do something new this year. Here are some things you can do to make the holiday one to remember.

The Dancing Lights of Christmas is an event that has been hosted in Nashville for the past seven years. This year, the lights return for the 8th year but at a new location. This year it will be hosted at the Wilson County Fairgrounds. By hosting this at the fairgrounds, the lights are able to have even more visitors, lights, driving routes, and decorations. The Dancing Lights opened on November 17 and will go through December 31. The cost of entrance is $25 per car, but $3 will be taken off if you bring cans to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

If going out isn’t on your list, there are still multiple things you can do at home. For example, you can stay in with your loved ones and bake cookies, pastries, etc. Baking can also warm up the house while listening to Christmas music, which is guaranteed to make you and your loved ones grow closer on a cold winter evening.

If you haven’t taken the time to put up your Christmas tree yet, this is your chance. Decorating the tree and your house also gives you time to destress yourself by either enjoying your own company or the company of others.

After decorating and baking, have a good cup of hot chocolate and begin a Christmas movie marathon. Having a Christmas movie marathon is a good way to end the night, while snuggled up by the TV relaxing.

A final thing to consider is volunteering at a local soup kitchen or charity drive, or collecting food for those in need. By volunteering you can spread Christmas cheer and joy. Christmas isn’t all about receiving, but is also about giving. Volunteering gives you the chance to help those in need during the holidays and realize how grateful you should be for everything you have. This also gives you a chance to make someone’s day and make them feel loved and wanted. Therefore, volunteering gives you the chance to give back to the community.
