The city of Nashville is coming together in the sports community.  One team in particular stands out from the rest of the crowd, the Nashville Predators. For any that don’t know, they are a hockey team in the NHL (National Hockey League), and they are rolling through. In the past two years, the Nashville Predators went to the playoffs, earning a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017. They may have been runner ups in the end, but they made a statement that they are here and are not going anywhere.

The majority of their roster, such as Viktor Arvidsson, Filip Forsberg, Pekka Rinne, will be returning this season. Their coaching staff is one of the best in the NHL. The front office has been busy at work getting contracts available for players including forward Ryan Hartman and backup goaltender Juuse Saros. Both players received three-year contracts with the team. Changes to the roster include players who won’t return, such as Alexei Emelin and Scott Hartnell, and they added Dan Hamhuis, who is an original draft pick of the Preds.

One of their major problems is goaltending. Their top choices for goaltending are Pekka Rinne (35) and Juuse Saros (23). Both goalies are very good in the crease, but who is considered better? Rinne has been a goalie for the Preds since 2008, when he first became a goalie for the NHL. Now that he is older, his skill has gone down, giving Saros the chance to be the new face in goal for the Preds in the near future.

Last year’s record for the Predators was 53-18-11, resulting in a total of 117 points in a total season, which won them the President’s Trophy. They made it through two rounds of the playoffs last year. If you don’t believe in the Preds this year, you should reconsider because this year with a much better roster, the Nashville Predators could be winning it all. You know what they say, “I like it, I love it, I want some more of it!” Bring on the 2018-19 season. GO PREDS!
